The Forest of Dean is an area of outstanding natural beauty providing a wide range
of outdoor leisure and adventure activities for all tastes and ages. To the northwest
of the Tudor Farmhouse lies the Wye Valley and Symonds Yat Rock offering water sports
and outdoor adventure activities set against a backdrop of extensive wildlife and
dramatic scenery. Plus there is plenty of good walking and cycling. And several golf
courses. Cheltenham Racecourse is rightly renowned as one of the foremost tracks
in the British Isles, and for three days in March is home to the National Hunt Festival.
And Chepstow Racecourse is worth a visit as it is the premier Welsh track. Families
too are offered lots of family-oriented activities.
Within easy reach of the Tudor Farmhouse are towns hosting major cultural festivals
throughout the year. These include the Hay-On-Wye and Cheltenham Festivals of Literature,
Abergavenny Food Festival, Monmouth Agricultural show and Ross-On-Wye music festival.
The Forest of Dean and surrounding area have a fascinating and varied local history
from medieval castles and abbeys, such as Raglan in the Welsh borders and Tintern
Abbey, to the grandeur of Gloucester Cathedral. The area is renowned for its mining
heritage and there is no better place to start than Clearwell Caves, within walking
distance of the Tudor Farmhouse. We also offer you a selection of other links to
