The Hay-on-Wye Festival of Literature

At the end of May this festival draws the most amazing names from the literary world from all corners of the globe. In the last few years it has attracted speakers as diverse as Tom Wolfe, Bill Clinton and Paul McCartney.

 

The Ross-on-Wye Festival

In August this performance festival commands attention from around the country with its diversity and top name performers which have included Richard Thompson, Van Morrison, Steven Berkoff, and Courtney Pine amongst others.

 

Monmouth Agricultural Show

The Monmouth Agricultural Show is the largest one-day show of its kind in the country, and takes place in August.

 

Abergavenny Food Festival

If food is your thing then the Abergavenny Food Festival at the end of September is for you (picture right). Always a weekend of fascinating culinary discussion with guest speakers, plus the opportunity to visit and taste some of the delights, prepared by renowned chefs (including our own!), with fresh local produce. An end-of-summer treat.

 

Cheltenham Festival of Literature

Followed by, in October, and great for those who missed the Hay Festival, is the Cheltenham Festival of Literature, with an equally varied mix of top authors and topics. Cheltenham often hosts jazz, blues and world music during the festival and you'll find a visit very rewarding.
